On
26th May 1998 crews from Broadway and Chipping Campden were mobilised
to a vehicle on fire on Fish Hill.
The view from the cab of the Broadway appliance, as it approached the
incident along the recently opened bypass, seemed to indicate it was not
a false alarm.
On arrival they found the vehicle burning on the carrigeway. Unfortunately,
the intense heat of the fire burned the brakes off, and the dustcart rolled
back down the hill. It struck the Broadway fire appliance a glancing blow
before coming to rest against a wall.
