Originally formed as The Local Defence Volunteers, and later known as The Home Guard, it was Britain's largest ever unpaid army, with over a million men.
The Broadway Home Guard was part of the 4th Worcestershire Battalion. They worked together, and joined in exercises, with other branches of the Civil Defence including The National Fire Service.
