The Mickleton Fire Brigade

The Mickleton fire brigade practicing with their hose cart and stirrup pump. This small brigade was typical of those formed during the war to protect their community. The stirrup pump (see below), drawing water from a bucket, produced a reasonable fire fighting jet.
It's main purpose was to extinguish burning incendiary bombs.
