The
National Fire Service (NFS) took over responsibility for providing fire
cover from the local authority brigades on 18th August 1941.
Following the heavy bombing of Britain it was felt that fire-fighting needed to be co-ordinated on a national scale. The country was divided into thirty-nine areas or Fire Forces. The Broadway brigade was part of No 23 Fire Force. |
